Official Opening of the New Location of NAECOB

The National Accreditation and Equivalency Council (NAECOB) celebrated the official opening of a new office on the Tonique Williams Darling Highway on August 31, 2022.

On hand to deliver the keynote address was the Minister of Education and Technical and Vocational Training, Glenys Hanna Martin. She highlighted the significance of the work being carried out by the statutory body.

Dr. Lisa Stovel-Rolle, who serves as the Executive Director of NAECOB, gave a brief history of the agency. Among the services offered include the registration and accreditation of local primary/secondary schools, post-secondary institutions, Allied Health & Training Institutions, select projects/programmes; recognition of regional and international educational institutions; along with the verification of credentials.

With the exceptions of the Allied Health Institutions, each category of institutions within NAECOB reported growth in registration and recognition; the largest sector was the primary and secondary schools, with a total of 105 institutions holding ‘registered status; signaling an increase of 22. NAECOB also increased its number of registered post-secondary institutions by two during 2021, bringing the total to 17. Registration of training institutions increased by two bringing the total to 29.
